How to write a gay dating profile that gets replies
Updated · 4 min read · Zynger team
A good profile doesn’t need to be long. It needs to be clear, honest and a little bit you. Here’s what works.
Photos
Your photos do most of the talking.
- Use a recent, clear photo where you’re easy to see.
- Add one or two showing what you enjoy: travel, the gym, food, friends.
- Avoid group shots as your main photo.
- Keep anything more private in a private album, shared only when you choose.
A short About line
Two or three sentences are enough. Mention something specific, like your favourite weekend plan or a show you’re watching. Specific details are easier to reply to than “just ask”.
Say what you’re open to
Dates, chat, friends, networking or a relationship: setting this saves everyone time and helps you meet men who want the same thing. Add where you like to meet, too.
Your first message
Comment on something in his profile and ask a question. If you’re not sure what to say, send a nudge instead: it’s a friendly hello that leaves the next move to him.
