Privacy Policy
Last updated 2026-09-09
This Privacy Policy describes how Zynger (“we”, “us”, “our”), operated under the ZYNGer Connect brand, collects, uses, stores, shares, and deletes personal information when you use the Zynger mobile application, related APIs, and the zyngerconnect.com website. Zynger is an 18+ LGBTQ+ dating and chat service initially offered in India. This policy is written to match Zynger’s current as-built product behavior.
Who this policy covers
This policy applies to people who create a Zynger account, browse the marketing website, contact support, or otherwise interact with Zynger services. Zynger is strictly for adults aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we learn that an account belongs to a person under 18, we will remove that account and associated personal data as described in our Child Safety Standards and Account Deletion pages.
Information we collect
- Account information (required): email address, password hash (we do not store your password in plain text), phone number collected during age consent / onboarding, date of birth for 18+ eligibility, and records that you accepted the Terms and Privacy Policy (policy version and timestamp).
- Sign-in identifiers: if you sign in with Google, we receive your Google account identifier and, when Google marks the email as verified, your email. Facebook sign-in, if enabled, uses the Facebook user identifier; we do not use Facebook email to auto-link accounts.
- Profile information you choose to provide: display name, about text, gender identity, pronouns, tribes/tags, relationship status, what you are looking for, meet-at preferences, and similar profile fields. These can include information about sexual orientation or LGBTQ+ identity because Zynger is a dating service for LGBTQ+ adults.
- Optional sexual health information: if you add it, profile health fields such as HIV status or testing/vaccination notes. This is sensitive personal data. It is optional and used only to display your profile according to your choices and filters.
- Profile photos and other media you upload: photos, videos, voice notes, GIFs, stickers, Vault/album items, and Available session photos. Uploads are stored in our object storage.
- Messages: one-to-one chat text, replies, and associated metadata (timestamps, delivery/read state). Chat is not end-to-end encrypted on the current product. We store messages so both participants can use Message.
- Location: precise coordinates when you enable nearby discovery, Available, or when you share a static or live location in chat. Other users typically see derived distance, not your raw coordinates, except when you explicitly share location in a conversation. We also receive approximate network location as a normal part of connecting to our servers (IP address).
- Device and session information: an app-generated device identifier used to bind sessions, app version/build on some requests, and session tokens. Biometric unlock / App Lock credentials stay on your device and are not sent to Zynger servers.
- Usage analytics: first-party product events (for example, whether a feature was opened). We do not send message bodies, health fields, passwords, precise coordinates, or phone numbers in analytics properties.
- Safety records: reports you submit (category, optional details, optional conversation evidence snapshot), blocks, and related moderation actions.
- Support communications: name, email, topic, and message if you use the website contact form.
- Advertising data: Google AdMob may collect device and advertising identifiers, IP address, coarse device information, and consent signals through Google’s User Messaging Platform (UMP) in order to show ads in the app. See Advertising below.
- Security signals: Cloudflare Turnstile may be used on some authentication and account-deletion request flows to reduce automated abuse. Turnstile processes a challenge token; we do not use it as a marketing tracker.
- Website: essential cookies or local storage needed for security and basic site function. If website analytics tools are enabled by configuration, they may set cookies as described in the Cookie Policy.
The data we collect depends on how you use Zynger. Some information is required to create an account and use core features. Other information is optional.
Why we collect it
- Create and authenticate your account, keep you signed in, reset passwords, and verify account-deletion requests.
- Confirm you are 18 or older before you can use dating, discovery, chat, or media features.
- Show profiles, nearby discovery, Available, filters, and chat.
- Store and deliver media you upload or share.
- Operate safety tools: reporting, blocking, photo moderation, and account enforcement.
- Show ads that help keep core features free.
- Diagnose outages and abuse, prevent fraud, and secure the service.
- Respond to support, privacy, and safety requests.
- Comply with law, including child-safety and intermediary obligations that apply to us.
Required vs optional
Required to create and use a Zynger account: email (or supported social sign-in), password or OAuth credential, date of birth showing you are 18+, acceptance of Terms and Privacy Policy, and a display name plus at least one profile photo to complete onboarding. Phone number is collected during age consent. Precise location is required only if you use nearby/Available features that depend on it. Health information, additional photos, Vault, voice notes, and chat location sharing are optional.
Where it is stored
Account, profile, chat, location, reports, and related records are stored in our application database (PostgreSQL) and cache (Redis) on our hosting infrastructure. Photos, videos, and other media objects are stored in cloud object storage (Cloudflare R2 / S3-compatible storage) and delivered through short-lived signed URLs rather than a public open bucket. We do not claim a specific data-residency country in this policy until that residency is contractually and operationally confirmed. Support emails are processed through our email provider.
How long we keep it
- Peer-visible ordinary chat text already delivered to another adult user may remain in that conversation so the remaining participant’s history is not silently rewritten. Your sender identity is removed (shown as Deleted Account). Media, location payloads, and Vault cards you owned are deleted or scrubbed.
- An internal deletion job tombstone (with no marketing use and no public API) may be retained for up to 30 days after cleanup is verified, then deleted.
- We may retain limited records if required for security, fraud prevention, legal claims, or applicable law (for example, a child-safety report already made to authorities). We do not keep a deleted-user marketing archive.
- Server logs and security logs are kept only as long as needed for operations and abuse prevention, then rotated.
- AdMob and other Google advertising data is retained under Google’s own retention practices for that service.
We keep account and profile data for as long as your account is active. After you delete your account, we purge personal data associated with that account according to the Account Deletion page, with the following operational exceptions that we disclose here:
Who can access it
You control what other Zynger users see on your profile, subject to your privacy settings (for example, showing distance). People you chat with can see messages and media you send them. Zynger operators and authorized contractors can access account, profile, media, chat, location, and report data as needed to run the service, moderate content, fix bugs, and handle safety or legal requests. Access is limited to people with a job need. We do not sell your personal information.
Third parties
- Google: Google Sign-In (if you use it); Google AdMob and UMP for ads and consent; Google Maps SDK for map tiles when maps are shown. Google may receive advertising identifiers, IP address, device information, and consent status as described in Google’s policies.
- Cloudflare: Turnstile bot protection and R2 object storage.
- Klipy: GIF search queries when you search for GIFs in chat.
- Email delivery provider: password-reset, account-deletion confirmation, and support/contact messages.
- Error monitoring (Sentry), if enabled in a given environment: technical error reports which we configure to avoid capturing message bodies, passwords, and health fields where feasible.
- Law enforcement or regulators: when required by law or when we have actual knowledge of child sexual abuse material or other serious illegal content, as described in Child Safety Standards.
We share information with service providers who process it on our instructions, and with platforms you choose to connect:
Advertising
Zynger is free and may show Google AdMob banner ads on some screens. Ads are not shown on authentication, report, account deletion, PIN/App Lock, or safety-critical flows. Because Zynger is 18+ only, we set child-directed treatment to false and tag-for-under-age-of-consent to false. Google’s User Messaging Platform may ask for privacy consent where required. AdMob may use an advertising ID on Android. You can reset or limit advertising identifiers in your device settings. Personalized ads depend on your consent choices and Google’s systems. We do not currently operate our own advertising network or sell your data to advertisers.
Location
Nearby discovery and Available use your device location while the app is in use (foreground). Zynger does not currently request Android background location permission. Live location in chat is an explicit share while you keep that screen active; it is not a silent always-on tracker. You can stop sharing. Other users see distance or a map pin you chose to send, depending on the feature. Location is sensitive; do not share it if you are not comfortable doing so.
Messages, media, and user-generated content
Profiles, photos, chat, voice notes, videos, GIFs, and albums are user-generated content. Public profile photos are subject to moderation before they are shown to other users as approved photos. Unmoderated or rejected photos are not used as the photo other people see. Private one-to-one chat is visible to the participants and to Zynger for safety, abuse, and legal reasons. Do not upload content that violates the Terms or Community Guidelines. See those documents for prohibited sexual content, solicitation for compensation, non-consensual imagery, and child sexual abuse material.
Security
We use HTTPS for the production API, hashed passwords (Argon2id), session tokens bound to live sessions, and short-lived signed URLs for media. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. You are responsible for keeping your password and device lock private.
Your rights and account deletion
Under India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, you may have rights to access, correct, and erase personal data, subject to exceptions in that law. You can edit much of your profile in the app. You can delete your account in the Zynger app (You → Settings → Delete account) or by verifying ownership of the email on your account at https://zyngerconnect.com/delete-account. Details of what is deleted versus retained are on that page.
Children
Zynger is not directed at children. People under 18 may not create or use an account. We prohibit child sexual abuse and exploitation. See Child Safety Standards at https://zyngerconnect.com/child-safety-standards.
Contact and Grievance Nodal Officer
Privacy questions: privacy@zyngerconnect.com or support@zyngerconnect.com.
Child safety / CSAE notifications (including Google Play child-safety contact): support@zyngerconnect.com, addressed to the Zynger Child Safety contact.
As required under the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021, the Grievance Nodal Officer for Zynger / ZYNGer Connect is Mihir Vora, email support@zyngerconnect.com. Grievances are acknowledged within 24 hours and resolved within 15 days of receipt, per those Rules. Whether additional “significant social media intermediary” duties apply depends on user thresholds and legal classification and should be confirmed with qualified Indian counsel as the product scales.
Changes
We will update this page when our practices change. The “Last updated” date shows the current version. Material changes to Terms or Privacy are reflected in the version string collected when you consent in the app.
